What is rBST/rBGH?
These letters stand for recombinant bovine somatotropin (rBST) and recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH) but both mean the same thing. All cows produce their own bovine growth hormone, but when these terms are used they generally are meant to indicate the artificial hormone. The supplementation of rBST is meant to increase milk production.
You can trust the statement printed on the lids of our yogurts: “Made with Grade A milk that does not contain the synthetic hormone, rBST.*
*The FDA states that no significant difference has been shown between milk derived from rBST-treated and non-rBST treated cows.
